Management Trainee Program

The Management Trainee Program develops leaders who will drive the future of our organization. It’s a paid, full-time program for recent college graduates with less than three years of professional work experience/military service. Career opportunities will follow with hard work, the desire to learn, and the ability to develop productive working relationships.

2026 Management Trainee Qualifications

Completed Bachelors or Masters degree relevant to the program by start date
Minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA at the time of application and start of program
Less than 3 years of professional work experience/military service (EXCLUDING internships, part-time jobs, or positions held while pursuing undergraduate or graduate degree)

2026 Associate Management Trainee Qualifications

Completed Associates degree relevant to the program by start date and is not in progress for Bachelors degree or have a completed Bachelors degree
Minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA at the time of application and start of program
Less than 3 years of professional work experience/military service (EXCLUDING internships, part-time jobs, or positions held while pursuing undergraduate or graduate degree

Corporate Management Trainee

Upon arrival at BNSF, Corporate Management Trainees receive an overview of our railroad and industry during orientation at our Fort Worth, TX headquarters.

Once orientation is complete, Corporate MTs move into their assigend departments for on-the-job training. Our corporate departments include Accounting, Corporate Audit, Human Resources, Marketing, Performance Measures, Strategic Sourcing, and Technology.

Operations Management Trainee

Upon arrival at BNSF, Operations Management Trainees receive an overview of our railroad and industry during orientation at our Fort Worth, TX headquarters.

Once orientation is complete, Operations MTs travel to our training center in Kansas for hands-on training before heading to their BNSF training location, which could be anywhere on our network. Our operating departments include Engineering, Mechanical, and Transportation.
